New Neighbor in our backyard!

We have a new neighbor...a roadrunner! Yes, it's a real bird. He's really fast, so my pictures are not that great (truthfully, they probably would not be that great even if he was slow), but at least you get an idea of what they look like. Yup, right there behind the crazy rosemary bushes... I'll keep trying to see if I can catch a better picture of him. He's so cute!

Bethany's latest project

I finished this up right before we moved, but hadn't had time to post the pictures until now. Growing up in the England house, we had a nativity set somewhat similar to this that I can remember playing with a lot at Christmas time. I thought it would be cool to make a set that we can have around here at Christmas time, and so after much perusing of eBay, I finally found a pattern that would work.

It took forever!!!!!!!!!! Special thanks go to my Mom for helping me figure out the sheep and the wise men turbans and for making the stables and mangers (the directions were not the most clear directions ever)!!! Special thanks go to Mom Brown for all of her encouragement and for rooting me on while I made these!!!

My office

At least for now (word is we'll be moving to Robinson Tower in a year or so), my office is on the fourth floor of Pat Neff Hall. You can see my office window in the shot below; it's right behind the top of the American flagpole. (Click on the image for a bigger version.) I can look out that window and see Tidwell Bible Building and the Judge Baylor statue. Pretty cool!

The joys of homeownership

Well, we're here... Movers showed up bright and early on the 11th with a REALLY big truck (our stuff filled up 1/3 of it).



We drove down the next two days; got here the 13th, closed on the house the 15th, and I started my new job the 18th. Stuff finally got here this past Thursday, and we're still unpacking.

But on to the interesting story... So, it rained a little here today - nothing we would consider a storm, really - but when I got home from work, part of a tree was down in our driveway. Bethany did not hear said tree fall, but there it was.



We think it was a pecan tree, which makes Bethany very sad. Thankfully, it was not the entire tree, and it didn't fall on anything (like her car... again).

We tugged a little to the right and a little to the left, and down came the branch. We think it's probably a little too big for our compost pile; guess we'll have to call a tree service to cut it up and take it away?



Just thought we'd share. (We seriously do love our new house.)
