Groundhog Day Art Context

On February 2nd of this year, Bethany's office had an art contest to draw your interpretation of Groundhog day using only crayons, and in the style of Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, MC Escher or Claude Monet.

Jeff's picture, drawn in the style of Picasso, tied for third place out of 11! Below are the pictures we drew. Enjoy!

Jeff's picture:

The groundhog in the upper right corner of the picture can not see his shadow in the lower left corner of the picture. While it is winter now (signified by the snow at the top and the calendar indicating it is February 2nd), spring is soon to come as evidenced by the sun shining brightly in the lower right corner.

Bethany's Picture:

The groundhog emerges triumphantly from his hole in the ground. He throws up his arms in celebration at not seeing his shadow and rejoices in seeing the sun. Still large from hibernation, he belts out an operatic type song of joy that spring will soon be here.

We hope your winter is going well and that you are as excited about spring coming as we are! As we post this, it is currently snowing.

The remodeling never ends...

So, exactly a year after setting aside some money to redo our guest bathroom's lighting and mirror/medicine cabinet, we finally got it done. We took most of that time deciding exactly what we wanted, and when we finally decided on a medicine cabinet, it turned out the only one the store had was a display model that was in bad shape. We tried ordering it direct from the manufacturer, and they took our money only to refund it a week later with a message that they no longer make that model. Finally, we found another display model, this one in good shape, at another store. We got it up today, along the lighting we found a couple of months ago.

First, for reference, here's what the old lights/cabinet looked like (except with a yellow/gold paint instead of white -- this pic is actually an old one of the master bath):

Now, here's the updated look:

Much better, don't you think?

Welcome to our blog!

So, we're setting this up without any promises on how often it will be updated. Mostly, we'll just use it to share pictures and such that we have instead e-mailed directly in the past. This should avoid clogging up inboxes and will allow you to go view our updates whenever you have time. Enjoy!
