More Baylor men's basketball

Plenty of fun Baylor men's basketball stuff over at Baylor Proud -- photos from the selection show and even some video that might give you an idea of the atmosphere at the Ferrell Center during the show.

And just to prove Bethany and I were there... Here's a screen capture from the selection show on CBS; the red arrow points to my head, and Bethany is just to my left (my right, as you look at this picture).

Here's a photo from the event; the arrow again points to me. (You can click on the picture to see a bigger version.) Sadly, my beautiful better half is hidden behind the poster.

Thursday at 1:45 p.m. CT! CBS! Let's go, Bears -- sic the Boilermakers!

Baylor men's basketball is going dancing!

Yep - The Baylor men are in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 20 years! Bethany and I (and several hundred other people) watched the selection show with the team at the Ferrell Center Sunday night. Baylor was the very last team announced in the whole tournament; talk about nail-biting! CBS cameras were there to show the crowd when the announcement was made. Check it out!

Fun Things from our Backyard: Spring is here!!!!!!

I wandered out into our yard the other day and saw that one of our iris flowers had bloomed! Spring is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (this was also evidenced by the fact that it was 89 degrees at 6pm last night). I'll let it speak for itself... Enjoy the pictures!!!

Disaster Musical of the Week ?!

It is a rare feat when one can combine their love of musicals and their embarrassing interest in disaster movies into one blog post. Here it is! Recently, Jeff and I had an opportunity to attend All-University Sing here at Baylor. It's one of those really fun Baylor traditions that, as a student, I looked forward to every year. It basically consists of mini-musicals put on by the fraternities, sororities and an all-star group (Sing Alliance). You can imagine my delight when I saw the first act called "In Our Yellow Submarine" by Phi Gamma Delta. This act was about sailors sailing the seas in, you guessed it, a yellow submarine.

The best part was about halfway through when a giant purple octopus tried to overtake the yellow submarine, it was just like a disaster movie! The purple octopus was in the middle of several flowing blue waving rolls of fabric at varying heights that looked like waves. Swimming by on rolling tables between these sheets of fabric were scuba divers battling the giant purple octopus. It is hard to describe, but it really was fun to watch. Here's a picture of the finale:

Yes, we're in Texas...

... And yes, that's snow. (We thought we moved away from this.) Our high temperature was in the mid 70s on Wednesday, and this is what we woke up to today:

That's our side yard, bordering Lake Air Drive. Here's another view, looking out the front; you can see where across the street the yard is white, but next door to that it's not.

(Pardon the picture quality; Bethany took these about 6:30 a.m. That's early!!)

By mid-morning it was all gone, and our high this afternoon was near 60. Tomorrow's forecast? Back in the mid 70s. A nice welcome back to the oddity that is Texas weather.

To serve and protect (our floor)

In order to protect the wood floors that we like so much, we felt it necessary to get a rug for the living room. Thankfully, eBay yielded one way cheaper than we could find in stores. And we both liked it, which is good. (Orbit likes it too -- see?)

Here it is with our furniture in place. (You can click on any of these pictures for a larger version.)

And check it out -- if you look closely, it's even got Spider-Man worked into the pattern!
