Makin' Applesauce with LittleBear

I am so behind on blog posts right now, it is not even funny, but rest assured...I will catch up.  For now, I bring you something new AND current!

We have been studying apples this week using My Father's World Kindergarten here at Crestwood Oaks Academy and one of the things it suggests is to make applesauce.  Well, we LOVE applesauce in this house, so I thought that was a great idea and what better way to make it with kids than IN THE CROCKPOT (I love my crockpot as much as the kids love applesauce)!  So, I found this recipe and LittleBear and I got to work.

First, we peeled the apples...

Then Mommy cut them up and put them in the crockpot...

Then he mixed in all the ingredients...

And stirred it up and we both poured the mixture over the apples...

Then we moved the crock into the pot...

Put on the lid and let it go!!!

It's still cooking, so no verdict yet on taste (look for that on twitter), but we had a lot of fun making it!!

Here is a video of LittleBear and I trying to get the apple peeler to work.  I found this at the Historic Waco Foundation Attic Treasures sale for $1.50 with the box and everything and hadn't taken the time to try it out before today...he had fun with it!  Methinks this is not the last time we make applesauce around here...
