OOOPs! I meant to post this last week...sorry. Last week was a really fun week because we were reading one of our favorite books, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel! Seriously, we love this book so much we ended up with two copies of it, which is good because both LadyBear and LittleBear are often found reading it or taking it in the car to look at the pictures.
If you haven't read it, it's about Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel, Mary Anne. They work hard on various jobs and then find that there are no more jobs because of the new fancy shovels are taking over. They end up in the town of Popperville and promise to dig the cellar for the new town hall in one day. Will they make it?!
We didn't do a lot of "Special things" this week, but that's fine with me. We mostly went through the packet on Homeschool Share.
We talked about matter including Solids, Liquids and Gases:
We talked about different energy sources and how trains used to run on Steam power (LittleBear is still interested in trains, so we squeezed those in on our own) and LadyBear enjoyed coloring a booklet of different construction vehicles:
We talked about the Panama Canal and how it was dug by steam shovels:
Overall the week went well and the kids really enjoyed this book...Stay tuned for what we are learning about this week!!
