LittleBear's First Day of Kindergarten!!!

Today is LittleBear's first day of Kindergarten!!  We are homeschooling once again here, so Crestwood Oaks Academy is continuing for another year.  We opted to follow a year-round schooling schedule, so we just finished up Pre-K/K-4 last week with My Father's World (which we loved), but I have found things go a lot more smoothly the fewer breaks I take and since we'll have a week off at the end of September and a bunch of other days here and there, I figured it was better for us to go ahead and start now.

This year, we are shooting for doing volumes 1 & 2 of Five In A Row, which is the next level up from Before Five In A Row, which we have done in the past with LittleBear and enjoyed.  That covers Bible, Art, History, Science and Social Studies along with some other things here and there.  We are also adding in MathUSee (Primer level), Explode the Code (Grammar) and Handwriting Without Tears (self explanatory, though we still have tears).  We will also continue with BSF and add in a couple of extra-curricular activities (like soccer and maybe choir).  We are shooting for lots of reading, field trips, games and hands-on activities that hopefully LittleBear and LadyBear will enjoy.  Today was off to a great start!

To kick off another year, we had a special treat today, sprinkled donuts!!!!  Oh my goodness, you would have thought it was Christmas, they were so excited! A whopping $1.20 at the grocery store is all it took to get the biggest smiles for the camera I have seen in quite some time...

Love these two!!!!  I am so thankful I get to share each and every day with them again this year...

Hooray Ben! Congratulations on studying kindergarten. Uncle and I are so proud of you! Auntie and Zoe are so excited to see you in a couple months. We have tons of hugs stored up, including the ones Uncle is sending with us!

That was supposed to say "starting kindergarten". Autocorrect foiled auntie once again. :-)
